Day 1
Upon your arrival at Noi Bai International Airport, a representative will be waiting to greet you and the transportation service will then transfer you to your hotel at the scheduled time. Early check-in at the hotel is subject to availability. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure in Hanoi. The capital of Vietnam is known for its ancient architecture and rich culture, which has been influenced by periods of French and Chinese occupation. It is one of the most ancient capitals in the world, and you will find well-preserved colonial buildings, ancient pagodas, and unique museums within the city centre. Overnight in Hanoi
Day 2
After breakfast at the hotel (included), visit the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, a museum which focuses on the 54 officially recognised ethnic groups in Vietnam. The visit will be followed by an informative group lecture on ethnic textile and dyeing techniques. The next stop of the day is the Temple of Literature, known as the first university of Vietnam and one of Hanoi's most picturesque tourist attractions. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant (included). Then, in the afternoon, enjoy a one-hour cyclo tour around the narrow, chaotic streets of the Old Quarter, passing through Silk Street, Rice Street, Paper Street, Lacquerware Street and Jewellery Street, among others. You will have plenty of opportunities to stop and shop for bargains. Fine-tune your haggling skills and come away with unusual items that will serve as a lasting reminder of this exciting afternoon. Finish the day by watching a delightful 50-minute performance at the Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre. Water puppetry is a tradition that dates back to the 11th century when Vietnamese villagers would perform with their puppets in the waist-deep water of flooded rice paddies. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 3
HANOI – HALONG (180 km - 3.5 hrs)
Wake up to breakfast at the hotel (included). Between 7.30 and 8.00 in the morning, you will be collected by your tour guide and embark on a journey to Halong Bay. Upon arrival, get on board your boat ready for your tour of this outstanding area of natural beauty. The emerald waters of this magical bay are home to thousands of limestone islands that rise up from the waves like dragons’ teeth. There will be many photo opportunities here. Around midday, lunch will be served (included). Later in the afternoon, visit an interesting fishing village and take the opportunity to interact with fishermen who have been living in the bay for almost three generations. Back on board, enjoy a few cocktails (own expense) and the chef’s cookery demonstration while watching the sun set over the sparkling waters, before indulging in a lavish dinner on the boat. Later, you may choose to do anything from joining movie night, playing board games with new-found friends, or relaxing at the beauty spa (own expense), before retiring to your bed for the night. Dinner included. Overnight on board.
Day 4
Rise early to the tranquil beauty of the bay. You will have time for an early morning swim before sitting down for breakfast on the boat (included). This morning we will continue to sail around the bay, discovering more secluded areas where you can jump into the emerald waters for a refreshing swim or perhaps a spot of kayaking (kayaking not included). Spend the rest of the day cruising around one of the world’s most wonderful locations, passing through the spectacular landscape dotted with thousands of limestone islands and islets. Around midday, lunch will be served. Stop at Surprise Cave, a cave which amazes tourists with its immense size and colourful stalactites and stalagmites. Then, visit Cua Van Fishing Village, a traditional floating village in a cradle of limestone mountains where villagers have preserved a truly unique way of life. Later, we will drop our anchor in the vicinity of Fairy Cave, a cave with a shallow lake inside. There will be plenty of time for swimming before enjoying dinner (included) on the boat and settling down for the night. Lunch included. Overnight on board
Day 5
Start the day with a session of Tai Chi at sunrise. Watching the sun come up over the bay is a truly beautiful sight and the peaceful flowing movements of Tai Chi are the perfect accompaniment. Then, enjoy breakfast on the boat (included) and visit a beautiful limestone grotto. Return to the boat for your final glimpse of Halong Bay as we cruise back to the dock. Disembark the boat at midday. The transportation service will be waiting at the port to transfer you back to Hanoi. You will be dropped off at your hotel or, if you have a return or onward flight, directly at Noi Bai International Airport. Please note that the earliest we will arrive at the airport will be 03:00 pm, so please ensure that you book your flight accordingly.
