Day 1
Dublin - Roundstone - Clifden
The trip takes you straight through Ireland's midlands where you’ll cross villages, valleys, bog lands and much more. You will get your first peek at Galway Bay before we stop off for some lunch in the lovely little fishing village of Roundstone whilst we are blown away by the view of The Twelve Bens Mountain Range. After that, we will make our way to the stunning Coral Beach which has its fair share of history. Alcock and Brown landed the first ever transatlantic flight here back in 1919 and Marconi sent the first ever wireless messages to America from here too! You then get to the final destination of the day, the quaint coastal town of Clifden which finds itself amongst the 12 Ben Mountains and sits right in the thick of a vast valley. Clifden is known as the place to go when it comes to shopping. It is also famed for its fabulous sky road which gives the most memorable views that can’t really be found elsewhere. Call it a day and head to the hotel to get some much needed shut-eye.
Day 2
Clifden - Galway - Dublin
Start the second day off right as rain with a full traditional Irish breakfast. You’ll have the chance to do as you please in Clifden for a while before we set off for more adventures in the early afternoon. We’ll be spoilt with lush scenery in Letterfrack. We go past the impressive Kylemore Abbey and have the chance to take some pictures and get a glimpse in to how the Benedictine community have managed to restore it to a completely self-sustaining entity. You’ll journey back to Galway via the Inagh Valley. You’ll be inundated with photo opportunities from all around and you’ll soon realise why Connemara has been referred to as a “savage beauty”. The landscape was left barren during the great potato famine and still boasts the same raw beauty it’s had since then. Try to soak up as much culture as you can in the last few moments before you hop on the train back to Dublin again.
