Classical Period Tour - Mycenae, Olympia and Delphi from Athens

We leave Athens by the coastal road, before taking a short stop to peer down at the ships passing through the narrow Corinth Canal below. Next, experience the legendary acoustics in the ancient theatre at Epidaurus, before taking a short photo stop at the romantic town of Nafplio. At mystical Mycenae we’ll visit the atmospheric Tomb of Agamemnon, before departing for Olympia through Tripolis and Megalopolis. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Olympia, cradle of the Olympic Games. 

After breakfast, visit the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the ancient stadium and the archaeological museum to learn more about the incredible history of the Olympic Games. Then we drive on through the plains of Eliad and Achaia, crossing the magnificent bridge spanning the Corinthian Bay from Rion to Antirion. We’ll pass through the Italian architecture of Nafpactos and pretty coastal Itea, before arriving in Delphi in time for dinner. 

The next day, visiting Delphi’s Unesco-listed archaeological site and museum, to discover more about the awesome prophecies of the Delphic oracle. Soak up the majestic scenery and spiritual power of Delphi for a few free hours before we depart via the village of Arachova, renowned for its colourful rugs and carpets. We return to Athens through Levadia and ancient Thebes, home to ill-fated Oedipus. Arrive in Athens early in the evening.
